Duration: 1.5 hrs

Join our curator on an exploration of the Dumfries House Estate.
The walk will take you from the historic Stable and Coach House, via the Laundry Building across the Adam Bridge. From here you will follow the road to the site of the Walled Garden and back across the river to the western boundary of the original estate. The Beech Avenue will join the Estate Road from the west gates and take you to the Dovecot – the oldest surviving building on the estate. A brief stop at the sawmill will continue to the Coach House Cafe where the walk will conclude.
The walk is designed to let you learn about the interesting historic development of the Dumfries House Estate while enjoying a gently paced walk from site to site. There will be photocopies of historic maps to look at. As many of the sites are currently undergoing restoration you will be able to get an insight into the latest developments.
Each walk will last approximately 1.5 hours, and many areas may be wet underfoot. So stout footwear, warm clothing and a packed lunch will see you through, and we shall provide you with a warming cup of tea or coffee. Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times. The walk will go ahead no matter the weather!
